Clover Loyalty Integration: How to Run a Wallet Loyalty Card at a Clover Counter
A Clover loyalty integration for MSTRMND is planned for Q4 and is not available yet. This page covers how to run a wallet loyalty card at a Clover counter today, what the planned link is for and how to keep your setup simple.
Planned for Q4, not available yet
Start at a Clover counter today
- Ring up the sale on Clover
- Scan the wallet card
- Put the QR code at eye height
- Plan for the Q4 link
The card is the same card before and after a link.
Is there a Clover loyalty integration?
Not natively. MSTRMND lists Clover on its roadmap for Q4, alongside Square and Stripe Terminal, with no firm date. Today a Clover venue runs the MSTRMND card beside the device, using the Scanner App on a phone. The Business plan adds API and webhooks for anything that needs a connection.
Clover is a counter-top and handheld payments system that many cafés, salons, shops and restaurants use. It sits where the sale happens. A loyalty card has a different job: it sits where the customer is, on their phone, and speaks to them between visits. The two work well side by side. New to wallet cards? Start with our guide to digital loyalty cards.
How a Clover counter runs the card today
Three steps, with nothing to install on the Clover device.
- Ring up the sale on the Clover device as normal.
- Scan the wallet card with the Scanner App on a phone kept at the counter, or on the member of staff’s own phone.
- Show the customer the updated stamp count or points in their wallet if they ask.
Because nothing runs inside the device, a Clover venue can start in an afternoon on any plan. The same approach works for handheld Clover devices carried to a table.
Ways to use MSTRMND at a Clover counter
The first option works on any plan today. The others are for venues with more complex needs.
| Way | How it works | Plan needed | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scanner App beside Clover | Take the sale on Clover, scan the wallet card on a phone | Every plan | Works today |
| API and webhooks | A developer or automation tool sends events to the card | Business | Works today, needs setup |
| Native Clover link | A built-in connection between the device and the card | Not announced | Planned for Q4, no firm date |
Where to put the card at a Clover counter
The card only works if customers join, and customers join where they wait. A printed QR code beside the card reader is the cheapest option and does most of the work. A small sign that says what the reward is, in a sentence, does the rest.
Put the QR code at eye height, not on the counter surface, where it is covered by receipts and bags. Mention it at the moment of payment, because that is when a customer has the phone in their hand and a reason to stay for ten seconds. A new regular who joins on their first visit is worth far more than one you try to convert later.
Three ways a Clover venue uses it
The salon front desk
A stylist finishes, the client pays at the Clover device, and the receptionist scans the card while the receipt prints. The client sees their stamp, and a message about their next visit can arrive later in the day.
The takeaway counter
The queue is the enemy. Joining the card while waiting for the order costs no counter time, and the Scanner App works from a phone, so the person at the till does not leave their station.
The shop with a second site
If you run two or three Clover locations, a single card works across them. Grow covers up to 5 locations and Business up to 10, so the same customer is one record, not two.
Locations covered by each plan
Clover venues often grow from one counter to several. This is how far each plan goes.

What the planned Clover link is for
A native link is meant to remove the separate scan, so the loyalty record follows the sale without a second step. We describe the purpose, not the behaviour, because it has not shipped. When it does, this page will say how it works, which plan carries it and what it needs from your Clover setup.
Until then, do not wait. A venue that starts now learns what its customers respond to, which reward they prefer and how often they return. Those answers will be useful whichever way the till connects.
What a Clover link will not fix
Connecting two systems is plumbing. It does not decide whether your reward is worth earning, whether staff mention the card or whether a customer who joined last month ever hears from you again. Those are the parts of a loyalty programme that move retention, and they work the same with or without a link.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a native Clover loyalty integration?
Not yet. A Clover link is planned for Q4 with no firm date. Until it ships, a Clover venue runs the wallet card beside the device using the Scanner App, which is included on every plan. The Business plan adds API and webhooks for custom connections.
Do I need to install anything on my Clover device?
No. The loyalty card does not run inside the Clover device. Staff scan the card with the Scanner App on a phone, and customers add the card from a QR code to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. That is why a Clover venue can start without waiting for anything to be signed off or installed.
Which plan works for a single Clover counter?
Starter covers one location with one stamp card and up to 100 clients. If you expect more than 100 regulars, or want segments and WhatsApp notifications, Grow holds up to 1,000 clients across 5 locations. The right choice depends on the size of the list you are building.
Will customers notice when the Clover link arrives?
No. The wallet card is the same card before and after. A native link changes how the sale reaches the loyalty record, not what the customer holds. That is the reason to start now, learn what your customers respond to, and keep the reward rule simple.
