Manychat Loyalty Integration: Turn Instagram and WhatsApp Chats into Wallet Cards
A Manychat loyalty integration lets a chat flow on Instagram or WhatsApp issue a wallet card and add stamps, so a customer who messages your business ends up with a card in their phone. MSTRMND connects through the API on the Business plan. This page covers how, and the limits.
Via API and webhooks, Business plan
Connect Manychat to a wallet card
- Pick one starting flow
- Collect a phone or email
- Call the card API
- Send the card link
Keep the check-in flow to low-value rewards.
What does a Manychat loyalty integration do?
Manychat builds automated conversations on messaging apps. For a venue whose customers find it on Instagram, that conversation is often the first contact. A loyalty integration turns the conversation into a card: the customer says yes, the flow collects a phone number or email, and a call to MSTRMND issues the card.
MSTRMND does not publish a Manychat app. The flow uses Manychat’s external request step to call the MSTRMND API, which the Business plan includes. New to wallet cards? Start with our guide to digital loyalty cards.
How a chat flow reaches the card
A flow starts from a keyword, a comment or a click. It asks the customer one or two questions, and then makes the call.
- Collect the phone or email and store it in a Manychat field.
- Call the API to find or create the customer and issue the card.
- Send the card link back in the chat, so the customer can add it to their wallet.
- Add a stamp later, when a second flow triggers on a visit or a purchase.
The customer never has to leave the app they were already using, which is the main reason to build it.
Four Manychat flows and the card action each one drives
Each row is one flow built with an external request.
| Flow | Starts from | Card action | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comment to join | A keyword comment | Issue a card and add a stamp | Social offers |
| Story link | A link sticker | Issue a card | Day-long offers |
| Booking reply | A booking message | Offer and issue a card | Salons and barbers |
| Visit check-in | A keyword on arrival | Add a stamp | Low-value rewards |
Where it fits best
This link suits venues that win customers through social media: a salon that takes bookings by Instagram message, a café that runs a comment-to-win offer, a barber who shares a link in a story. The card gives those customers a reason to return that does not depend on an algorithm showing your next post.
It suits venues with no social presence much less. If customers mostly arrive off the street, the card is better offered at the till.
Flows that suit a card
Comment to join
A customer comments a keyword on a post. The flow replies with a message, collects a phone number and issues the card with a welcome stamp.
A story link
A link sticker opens the chat, and the same flow runs. It works for offers that last a day.
A booking reply
After a booking by message, the flow offers the card to any customer who does not have one.
A visit check-in
A customer messages a keyword on arrival, and a flow adds a stamp. It needs a staff check, or it can be misused.
API access by plan
The external request needs the API, so it needs the Business plan.

What you need before you start
- The Business plan, which includes the API.
- A Manychat account with the channel connected, and a plan that allows external requests. Check its current plans.
- The API credentials from your MSTRMND account, kept out of any message the customer can see.
- A matching key: the phone number or email the flow collects.
- A consent line in the flow that explains what the customer is joining.
Where it stops
A check-in flow can be abused by a customer who simply types the keyword, so use it for low-value rewards or add a staff step. Messaging platforms have their own rules on automated messages and opt-ins, and those rules change. Read them, and keep the flow honest about what it is. As with any API build, add an alert for failed calls.
A first-week plan for a Manychat loyalty integration
Build one flow and watch it before you build a second.
- Day one: choose the single entry point, such as a comment keyword, and write the reward in one line.
- Day two: collect your MSTRMND credentials and decide which field holds the phone or email.
- Day three: build the flow up to the external request and test the call.
- Day four: add the reply that sends the card link, and a fallback if the call fails.
- Day five: run it with your own account and one regular, then publish it.
Write the reply in the way you would say it across the counter. A card offer that sounds like a template gets ignored.
Questions to ask before you publish the flow
Chat flows meet the public, so test the odd inputs.
- What if the customer types a phone number in the wrong format?
- What if they already have a card?
- Does the flow say what they are joining and how to leave?
- Who sees the failure alert?
A flow that handles the odd answer politely feels like a business with its act together. One that breaks does the opposite.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Manychat app for MSTRMND?
No app is published. A Manychat flow uses its external request step to call the MSTRMND API, which the Business plan includes. You build the flow once, and it can then issue cards from Instagram or WhatsApp conversations without anyone at the venue typing.
Can a customer fake a check-in?
Yes, if the flow trusts a typed keyword. For a stamp worth little, that is fine. For a larger reward, add a step where staff confirm, or leave stamping to the till. The Scanner App on every plan is the more reliable route for in-store visits.
Do customers need to leave the chat?
Only briefly. The flow sends a link, and the customer taps it to add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. After that, the card lives in the phone. The chat is where they joined, and the wallet is where they come back to.
What does it cost?
MSTRMND’s side is the Business plan, £115 a month billed annually, which includes the API. Manychat is a separate subscription, and its price depends on contacts and features, so check its current plans against the number of conversations you expect each month.
